The certification of the other products will follow in the next few weeks.

But don’t worry, all other products for Home and Business work on Windows 8 very well, they are just not yet certified by Microsoft.

Avira promised last year that their products would receive certification for Windows 8 in the first quarter of 2013. Yesterday, Sorin Mustaca, Avira product manager, informed in a blog post that the company delivered on that promise and Free Antivirus is Windows 8 certified.

The other products for both Home and Business will follow the same path in the next few weeks. However, this is just a formality because they already work very well on the new operating system from Microsoft.

The German developer worked closely with Microsoft in order to eliminate all the problems users experienced when migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Some of the issues reported included crashes of the antivirus as well as BSODs of the operating system.

All these problems are now history and you can now install Avira products on Windows 8 with no worries.
